Mascoutens Lodge #8 was an Order of the Arrow lodge serving the Southeast Wisconsin Council from 1972 to 2013. 

Historical Timeline

  • 1972: Formation: Mascoutens Lodge #8 was founded through the merger of Oh-Da-Ko-Ta Lodge #153 (Racine County Council, chartered 1939) and Chippecotton Lodge #524 (Kenosha County Council, chartered 1957).

  • Service Legacy: The lodge was known for extensive financial and service contributions to local camps, raising over $36,000 for projects including a dining pavilion, a boathouse, and a low COPE course at the Robert S. Lyle Scout Reservation.

  • 2013: Final Merger: On January 6, 2013, Mascoutens Lodge #8 merged with Mikano Lodge #231 to form the current Kanwa tho Lodge #636. 

Identity and Symbols

  • Name: "Mascoutens" translates to "People of the Little Prairie".

  • Totem: The lodge totem was the Beaver.

  • Council: It served the Southeast Wisconsin Council, which was formed by the merger of the Racine and Kenosha County Councils. 

Camps and Facilities

The lodge historically supported several regional Boy Scout camps, including: 

  • Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta: Located in Burlington, WI.

  • Robert S. Lyle Scout Reservation: Located in Elcho, WI, where the lodge's final major project supported leadership development through teamwork courses.
