Order of the Arrow Bigfoot Lodge #620 is the local OA lodge serving the Glacier's Edge Council, which covers communities throughout Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
Formation and Origins
Bigfoot Lodge #620 was officially chartered on May 5, 2018. It was created out of a reorganization of Takoda Lodge #146, with the goal of creating a "lodge of the future" that features a cutting-edge program tailored to today's youth.
The lodge inherits a long, complex lineage of mergers within the council's history:
In 2005, the Four Lakes Council (Madison) and Sinnissippi Council merged to create the Glacier’s Edge Council.
Consequently, the historical Tichora Lodge #146 (which had served the Madison area since 1939) merged with another lodge to form Takoda Lodge.
In 2018, Takoda Lodge was reorganized and rebranded as Bigfoot Lodge #620, adopting the council's original local identification number.
Camp and Community Impact
The lodge serves a wide area of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, including cities like Madison, Janesville, Beloit, and Fitchburg. Its primary council camp is the Ed Bryant Scout Reservation located on the Castle Rock Flowage near Mauston, Wisconsin. Here, the lodge provides significant volunteer hours, campsite maintenance, and leadership programs.
